VS Code Web

Access

The web interface is available at https://vscode.create.kcl.ac.uk/

The site authenticates users with their general KCL login credentials (no SSH keys are required).

If you are visiting for the first time, you will need to click the Explorer button on the left and open a folder. You may open any folder on CREATE that your user has access to: your home folder, your scratch, or any of your project directories (you can change this later in Menu ☰ > File > Open Folder)

Features

  • Source Control: this tab provides an overview of all git repositories in your main folder, and provides a convenient way to view changes and make commits.
  • Extensions: many extensions can be installed into VS Code, and these will be saved for your user. However, not all extensions that exist in the desktop version can be found here.

Warning

While VS Code Web does have a terminal, this is not expected to work the same as an ssh session to the login nodes. Please use an ssh session to submit jobs.
